“Quick Hands, Quick Feet” Baseball Throwing Drill

The "Quick Hands, Quick Feet" baseball throwing drill is a great way to improve your hand-eye coordination, footwork, and throwing accuracy. Here's how to perform the drill:

  • Start by standing about 10-15 feet away from a partner or coach.
  • Have your partner or coach call out a number, which will correspond to a specific direction you need to move in. For example, "one" might mean move to your left, "two" might mean move to your right, "three" might mean move forward, and "four" might mean move backward.
  • As soon as your partner calls out the number, quickly move in the direction called while simultaneously catching and throwing the ball to your partner.
  • Repeat the drill, with your partner calling out different numbers each time to test your reaction time and footwork.
  • As you become more comfortable with the drill, try increasing the distance between you and your partner or using a heavier ball to further challenge yourself.

This drill helps players develop the quick reflexes and coordination needed to make quick throws in game situations. It also helps players improve their footwork and agility, which can be crucial in making plays on defense.
